Community Food Pantry support

Grace Lutheran Church has been a consistent supporter of The Community Food Pantry (CFP) in Mohegan Lake for more than 25 years. Grace members

  • have served several terms on the CFP Board of Directors
  • have been recognized for their Volunteer service
  • pick up pantry donations weekly from local businesses such as Walmart
  • support special Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas food and gift distributions
  • donate school supplies
  • make weekly deliveries of food donations collected at Grace.

In addition, BSA Troop 174 provides volunteer parking and traffic direction assistance during the Pantry’s three special holiday food distributions.

Midnight Run

Grace members participate in "Midnight Runs" in many ways. We assemble healthy bag lunches, pack toiletry kits, donate casual men's clothing, fund the purchase of blankets, socks and underwear, and travel to Manhattan to distribute these items to our homeless brothers. Our last Run was on Good Friday 2017. Our next Run will take place on Friday evening March 16, 2018.

On God's Work Our Hands Sunday in September 2016 and 2015, Grace has packaged nutritious macaroni and cheese meals and delivered them to our local food pantries in Yorktown, Mohegan Lake, Putnam Valley, Peekskill, Mahopac and Somers. In Sept 2016, we packaged 10,000 meals in one day!

Blood Drives

Grace hosts blood drives through Hudson Valley Blood Services (a division of NY Blood Center) at least twice a year, on Ash Wednesday as well as during the summer (when blood supplies typically decrease).
